Patient Safety Champion - Provides direct hands on patient care to patients with mental illness in a secure mental health unit as well as providing additional support to ensure our culture of safety.REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma – Associates or Bachelors preferred
2 Years Full Time Direct Patient Care in health or behavioral health setting
To include: De-Escalating patients, Motivational interviewing, Mental health first aide, Evidence base intervention.
NYS Security License
BLS Certification
Must meet Vision and hearing standards with or without correction
Must meet physical lifting requirements of 35 lbs. or more.
Must attend PCT Classroom Training - 1 week M-F 8a-4p
Mandatory Certifications that must be maintained
Crisis Prevention / De-escalating Training
Security Guard DCJS 8 Hour Annual Course
Adherence to policies and procedures as outlined in the SPHP policies regarding:
Standard precautions
Blood borne Pathogens
Disposal of needles, syringes and sharps
Cleanup procedures for blood and body fluid spills, storage, handling and disposal of medical waste
Will successfully complete and pass annual competency requirements.
Responsibilities:
Rounding on Mental Health Units
Assisting with Direct Patient Care
Assist in conducting therapeutic activities
Responsible for visitation management
May perform assigned patient care activities and will aid will all aspects of patient’s bath, personal care and assist with providing patient nourishment.
Key Focuses: The Patient Safety Champion plays a critical role in promoting a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
PCT Pay Range: $19.00 - 28.00
