POSITION SUMMARY:  

 The Plant Manager is responsible for general supervision of the conversion aspect of operations including: production, quality control, maintenance, and sanitation.  Responsibilities also include recruiting, hiring, and training personnel and facility/physical plant up-keep and capital improvements.  In addition, the Plant Manager will be responsible for annual budget planning and execution. They will work closely with the production team to increase productivity and profitability within the manufacturing operation. This person must be experienced in manufacturing operations and have at least 7 years of experience including best practices in both managerial and production platforms. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Provides leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility 
  • Works closely with quality personnel to review product for food safety and quality while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement 
  • Reviews established production schedules for manufacturing to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible 
  • Coordinates the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel 
  • Works closely with all members of the manufacturing team to ensure awareness of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees 
  • Maintains and supports a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication initiatives 
  • Develops and executes the plant manufacturing budgets 
  • Analyzes workforce requirements 
  • Conducts performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all operations employees 
  • Encourages and promotes operating in a continuous improvement environment 
  • Removes production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals 
  • Removes waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity 
  • Communicates with research and development as well as product management personnel to develop new product strategies 
  • Works with purchasing manager to develop and improve supplier relationships 
  • Responsible for food safety and quality
  • Performs other duties as assigned
