The Actuarial Specialist for Par Management and Risk Modelling is responsible for supporting the Par-related functions and initiatives, as well as producing various risk sensitivity results for Senior Management use within the Actuarial Valuation function.
Responsibilities
Dividend Study:
- Conduct comprehensive annual dividend studies for traditional participating (par) products
- Assist in formulating dividend recommendations to the Chief Actuary
Par Reporting:
- Support the delivery of the quarterly valuation related to Traditional par products such as Time Value of Guarantee (TVOG), Unallocated Dividend Liability (UDL) and Par expense adjustments
- Help prepare relevant reports for OSFI regulatory requirements for traditional par products
Financial Condition Testing (FCT):
- Contribute to the completion of the annual FCT process
- Assist in analyzing results and preparing detailed reports on potential impacts for senior management
Risk Sensitivities:
- Provide support in model development and maintenance for market and insurance risk sensitivity
- Assist in preparing quarterly market and insurance risk sensitivity reports
Ad-hoc projects depending on business needs such as but not limited to:
- Perform stochastic asset modelling using actuarial software
- Provide support on the semi-annual business plan projections
Qualifications
University degree with a strong mathematical or statistical background
With at least 2 SOA exams
At least 4 years of Actuarial-related experience
Strong knowledge and experience in handling Actuarial modeling software, preferably AXIS
Strong proficiency in MS Office applications
