Position Purpose

  • The Development Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of mid-level prospects/donors with an emphasis on cultivation and solicitation strategies for mid-level annual giving, capital campaigns, and donor stewardship programs. This position supports the Major Gift Officer in fundraising efforts in the Maryland region.

As a Development Manager you will:

  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards mid-level gift donors and prospects ($5,000 - $9,999) including individuals, corporations, and/or foundations, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets set in collaboration with the Major Gift Officer.

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with Trinity Health, development colleagues, and appropriate board members and/or other constituents as connectors and sources of referrals for potential major donors to thereby maximize Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic Region’s philanthropy revenue.

  • Makes effective use of the prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, and volunteers in coordination with THMA and Trinity Health objectives.

  • Identify segments of the donor database to be targeted for upgrade for planned, capital or major giving initiatives.

  • Documents strategies for mid-level donors and prospective donors that support acquisition, pipeline development and retention goals.

  • Partners with Major Gift Officer in the development of prospectus/case for support documents in order to secure major gifts that will advance the strategic direction of the THMA ministry.

  • Collaborates on the creation of stewardship/recognition initiatives; specifically ensuring donors are appropriately thanked, recognized and moved through our stewardship process in a timely manner.

  • Manages and executes all aspects of fundraising and stewardship events.

  • Strong communicator in in asking and successfully securing donations.

  • Maintains meaningful and lasting relationships with constituents and stakeholders.

  • Monitor trends in the community and adapt fundraising strategies, as necessary.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Philanthropy, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field required.  Master’s degree preferred.

    • Minimum of four years of development experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.  

    • Experience using donor databases preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing long-and short-range development initiatives in conjunction with strategic planning processes.

    • Strong leadership abilities and verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks appropriately.

    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with hospital leadership, physicians, prospects, donors, and/or volunteers in a wide range of roles.

    • Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and timely reports and other documents to support development objectives.

    • Database management skills.

    • Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others.

    • Community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.

    • Ability to prioritize, organize and complete multiple tasks with strict deadlines and short turnaround times.

    • Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.

Pay Range: $41.46 - $64.31

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
