Description

We are Northrop Grumman Australia. Our 800 strong team is leveraging unparalleled global resources to deliver sovereign Defence capability aligned to the Government’s priorities across Aeronautics, Mission Critical Systems, Space and Guided Weapons. As we build our business and our capabilities, we are also developing a reputation as a great place to work. Help us define what is possible for our nation and for your career.

This is a hands‑on Network Systems Engineer role supporting the Triton program at RAAF Tindal. You’ll design, configure, test and troubleshoot secure, operational networks, working directly with Defence stakeholders and US‑based Northrop Grumman engineers.

This is not BAU IT or a narrow support role. You’ll be on site, close to the system, with real ownership of network design decisions, performance and future capacity. The role is based in Tindal, supported by a generous relocation package and a genuine cost‑of‑living advantage compared to major cities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and plan secure network communications systems
  • Produce network architecture specifications and detailed schematics
  • Select and implement hardware and software to meet current and future needs
  • Configure and integrate Triton network systems
  • Test network designs and validate performance
  • Troubleshoot complex connectivity and performance issues
  • Investigate anomalies and resolve root causes
  • Maintain accurate network documentation and baselines
  • Work directly with Defence and US engineering teams

About You

You’re an experienced network engineer who likes owning the solution end‑to‑end, from design through to implementation and fault‑finding. You’re comfortable making technical decisions, working in secure, regulated environments, and being trusted with real responsibility.

This role requires an active NV2 clearance, with the ability to obtain PV. You’re open to being based in Tindal because the work is meaningful, the program is long‑term, and the relocation support and lifestyle benefits make sense.

You’re looking for depth, autonomy, and work that actually matters, not another generic network role.

What we Offer

We have built our benefits to help you define your possible.

  • Professional Development – further education, leadership development, professional industry memberships and unlimited access to a range of online training
  • Purchased annual leave – 2 weeks
  • Salary packaging including novated car leases
  • Generous paid parental leave – 18 Weeks
  • Volunteer and enhanced Reservist Leave
  • Health & Wellbeing program
  • Employee Assistance Program
