About the role

The Foundry, UVA’s hub for entrepreneurship and student Founder advising is
seeking outgoing and articulate connectors with a passion for innovation and
creative problem solving to join this year’s Community Ops (CO) team. CO staff
contribute to overall community support as experts in everything The Foundry
has to offer. As a generalist, you will hold and share knowledge on all things
Foundry with behind-the-scenes experience in day-to-day operations, events,
resources, and tools. From the front desk to the back office, you’ll develop a
strong understanding of The Foundry’s model for student support and act as a
representative of the work we do.


Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
managing the resource desk
overseeing in-person new member intake managing the facility during
evening hours
maintaining equipment, supplies, and other inventory
assisting in the installation and implementation of new facilities offerings,
tools, equipment, or services assisting with events and workshops as needed
documentation of events, workshops, speakers, etc. as needed
providing tours and acting as first point of contact for members and special
guests
special projects as needed


Commitment:
- Part-time
- In-person only
- 10-20 hours, between 10am to 10pm.
- Some weekend work may be available.
- Schedule flexibility is available to accommodate academic commitments.


Compensation: $15.00 Hourly

Qualifications:
- You have a strong interest in entrepreneurship, startups, innovation, or just
 building things.
- You love being part of a community of like-minded people.
- You are comfortable (preferably experienced) in a customer-facing role, with
strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- You can work independently, complete tasks, and start new ones with minimal supervision.
- Prior experience in a team work environment.

Education: Current UVA student. Federal work-study eligibility required.
Experience: Prior experience in a team work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
