About the Position
The VDC Mechanical Assistant Project Manager plays an integral role in supporting the Preconstruction Virtual Design process under the supervision of a VDC Project Manager or VDC Project Executive. Assistant Project Managers aid in completing construction projects successfully and are primarily responsible for providing detailed coordination models, installation, and shop drawing designs for all mechanical systems.
Position Responsibilities
- Possess and maintain a working knowledge of relevant codes, installation drawings, standards, and installation best practices.
- Must be detail oriented and quality driven.
- Perform modeling Mechanical installations (Pathways and Equipment) in both 2D and 3D software platforms to include but not limited to AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks
- Represent Power Designs best interest both verbally and through software in formal clash detection coordination meetings with all disciplines, General Contractors, Architects and Structural Engineers under the guidance of a Senior or Preconstruction Coordinator.
- Assist with the review of contract documents, including scope of work, specifications, plans and pertinent jurisdictional codes to assure a contract and code compliant cost-efficient installation.
- Work with mechanical coordinators to produce fabrication plans, shop drawing installation plans, sleeve plans, spool plans, etc.
- Engage and communicate directly and effectively with the entire project team both internally with the PDI team and externally with the project team under the guidance of a VDC Project Manager or VDC Project Executive.
Here’s What We’re Looking For
- Five (5+) years of field construction experience in the mechanical scope or BIM Modeling for M/E/P construction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to control and drive the coordination process.
- Fluency in Navisworks Clash Detection and the formal coordination process
- Working knowledge of Revit, Fabrication and Navisworks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word
- Proficiency using Bluebeam and Adobe PDF tools.
- Provable experience building or maintaining model family libraries.
- Testable knowledge of mechanical systems and symbols as it applies to Power Design product types.
- Effective time management skills
- Display and promote strong Power Design core values.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all team members.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, and details.
- Participate and pass VDC Associate PM assessment test.
- High School Diploma/GED and Graduate of Construction Management or Construction Technology program (a plus)
- Revit Certification (or) 5+ years of relevant professional experience (A Plus).
- HVAC Journeyman level or higher license is a plus
