Job Overview
The Specialty Lead is accountable for driving high‑impact commercial insights and performance management across Specialty therapeutic areas within Global CE&O. The role partners closely with Specialty ICOE, regional leadership, and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate complex data into clear insights that inform strategic and operational decisions. He/she will be the business partner for Specialty ICOE, actively engaging with the ICOE and participating in the cross-functional Specialty forums.
Additionally, this leader ensures best‑in‑class performance dashboards, forecasting, and analytics are consistently delivered, while continuously evolving data governance and insight capabilities, across all the TAs (Rare & Specialty). Acting as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders, the role connects business execution with outcomes to enable sustained performance and long‑term portfolio value. Scope and product accountability will evolve in line with Biogen’s commercialization priorities including early assessments for near term pipeline products.
Principal Accountabilities
Specialty ICOE Partnership & Strategic Enablement
- Serve as a core member of Specialty ICOEs, acting as the primary CE&O insight and performance partner for assigned therapeutic areas and products.
- Proactively identify business questions, decision needs, and performance gaps, translating them into actionable CMI priorities.
- Coordinate Specialty‑related CE&O contributions across functions, ensuring alignment to ICOE strategies, priorities, and execution plans.
- Represent CE&O innovation, analytics, and insight capabilities in cross‑functional forums, influencing direction and outcomes.
Performance Management & Business Reviews
- Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of global and regional performance dashboards and KPI frameworks across Rare and Specialty portfolios.
- Oversee insight generation and storytelling for monthly performance reviews, deep‑dive business reviews, and executive forums.
- Partner with Regions, Affiliates, Finance, and Business Operations teams to ensure performance discussions are insight‑led and decision‑oriented.
- Ensure consistent performance interpretation across markets, regions, and leadership audiences.
Data, Analytics & Insight Capability Leadership
- Drive strategic evolution of performance management capabilities, including KPI definition, dashboard design, and analytics methodologies.
- Lead or contribute to performance data governance and process improvements in collaboration with Finance, GBS, Customer Solutions, and business stakeholders.
- Deliver ad‑hoc analyses, scenario modelling, and business cases addressing critical and emerging business questions.
- Support early‑stage pipeline forecasting and strategic planning exercises (e.g., regional pipeline assessments, long range planning) in partnership with Global CMI Leads.
Minimum Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Economics, Life Sciences, or related field).
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages an advantage.
Minimum Experience Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology commercial roles, with significant exposure to insights, analytics, or performance management.
- Proven ability to lead performance analysis, dashboarding, forecasting, and insight generation for senior leadership audiences.
- Strong strategic and analytical capability, including business case development and scenario modelling.
- Experience operating in complex, international, cross‑functional environments (e.g., ICOEs, franchise teams, brand teams).
- Thrive on challenge and will be highly collaborative, perceptive, an analytical problem solver, and exhibit strategic and innovative agility.
- Deep understanding of modern CE&O capabilities, including analytics, omnichannel, digital solutions, and data‑driven decision support.
- Demonstrated executive presence, influencing skills, and ability to translate complexity into clear, compelling narratives.
- High integrity, collaborative mindset, and comfort navigating ambiguity and change.
