Position Summary
Candidate will serve as the organization’s lead construction estimator for transmission line and substation projects. Utilizing Sage/EOS Navigator estimating software, you will lead a small estimating team of varying skill levels in the development of project estimates. These estimates are used directly by Project Managers to manage costs on specific capital projects and programs. The estimates are also used for developing annual budgets, preparing long-term plans, and assessing financial and resource management performance during the year. The primary purpose of the Lead position is to develop processes that ensure that the estimates, standards, and work practices accomplish these requirements effectively. The ideal candidate will have experience using and administrating Sage Estimating tool (EOS Navigator) and a strong background in MS Excel, with an emphasis on transmission construction project management principles, processes, and deliverables.
Responsibilities
Lead and train estimating team in development of project estimates using Sage estimating software
Develop and refine estimating methodology
Develop assemblies, models and templates in Sage estimating software (EOS Navigator)
Participate in contract bid evaluations including evaluating the cost exposure associated with change orders or scope additions
Provide final overall detailed project estimates for capital projects
Basic/Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Communications, Business, Statistics or other related degree AND nine (9) years of minimum required related experience
In lieu of degree(s) and experience listed above, High School/GED AND 15 years of minimum required related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
Experience in the electric utility industry
Knowledge of construction activities and sequences
Excellent working knowledge of T&D work processes
Budget or financial analysis experience
Working Conditions
Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility

Must have experience in Sage estimating software (EOS Navigator)
Must have experience in building assemblies in Sage estimating software
Proficiency in construction estimating and estimating methodology
Expert Level Proficiency in MS Excel
Skilled in project management theories and principles and capable of mentoring others
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Exceptional problem solving and analysis skills
Negotiation and conflict management skills
Be assigned an emergency storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule
