Position Purpose:
Manages the operation and clinical coordination of the Central Sterile Processing department at the main campus and at NVSC
What you will do:
- Responsible for performance improvement and employees adherence to policies and practices that are in compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Actively promotes an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to the delivery of care.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the department’s goals and functions.
- Communicates and collaborates with peers, staff, customers, supervisors and managers.
- Provides guidance and direction on all activities pertaining to CSP employees work assignments, quality, and development. Takes corrective action or utilizes discipline as necessary.
- Ensures the cleanliness standards are met by all.
- Maintains and oversees the instrument tracking system and the effective use and function of all instruments.
- Assures proper preventive maintenance of Sterilizer/high disinfecting/disinfecting equipment; establishes maintenance and replacement schedules.
- Interviews, hires, and trains all new staff. Provides a comprehensive departmental orientation to all new personnel and required training to all staff on a regular basis.
- Maintains continued education in the field of Sterile Processing operations and equipment through education, literature and seminars.
- Ensure proper and efficient workflow throughout the Perioperative operation.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Credentials and Abilities:
- NICHSPDP or IAHCSMM Technician Certification
- Organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, residents, nursing staff, patient care staff, administrators, patients and families required.
- Ability to work well under pressure. Must have a customer service focus, ability to work with staff, and be dedicated and accountable for work.
- Ability to effectively manage a three shift staff.
- Knowledge of a Central Sterile Processing workflow.
- Knowledge of all CS equipment and its use.
- Ability to create and effectively manage a budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
- 5 years' experience in the supervision and direction of a CS department in a Healthcare Environment.
