Job Description

Garment Technician

Modibodi is a leader in innovative, protective and sustainable apparel, dedicated to improving lives around the world. Our mission is to create better lives for all through groundbreaking, supportive designs, while building a business that delivers positive social impact for people and the planet.

We’re looking for an experienced Garment Technician to join our Product & Planning team in Rozelle, playing a critical role in bringing high-quality, performance-led garments from concept through to production.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Product & Planning, the Garment Technician is responsible for translating creative design ideas into production-ready garments that fit well, perform for purpose, and meet our quality standards. You’ll own the end-to-end technical development process, leading fittings, managing samples, creating detailed specifications, and collaborating closely with internal teams and overseas suppliers.

Your work will help reduce defects and returns, protect margins, and ensure we consistently deliver comfortable, reliable products to our customers.

What You Will Do

  • Lead fit sessions and wear tests, documenting outcomes clearly and turning feedback into actionable fit improvements.

  • Create and maintain accurate tech packs, measurement charts, tolerances, and construction details to support consistent manufacturing.

  • Manage sample requests, reviews, and approvals in line with the critical path to meet production and delivery timelines.

  • Partner with Product and Design to support innovation, ensuring new ideas are technically feasible and commercially viable.

  • Identify and mitigate quality and manufacturing risks early, driving continuous improvement across fabrics, construction, and fit.

  • Communicate clearly and confidently with overseas factories to resolve issues efficiently and maintain high standards.

  • Support internal stakeholders such as Customer Experience and Marketing with technical product insights as needed.

Who You Are

You bring 7+ years’ experience in garment technical development within the apparel or underwear industry, along with:

  • Strong fitting and wear-testing expertise, with confidence leading fit sessions and approving samples.

  • A proven ability to produce detailed, accurate technical documentation and collaborate effectively with overseas suppliers.

  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities to tight timelines.

  • A high level of ownership, clear communication style, and a practical, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.

  • Experience with performance or technical fabrics, patternmaking knowledge, or innovation projects is an advantage, but not essential.

  • Current, full and unrestricted working rights to work in Australia.

This role is offered on a full‑time basis; however, a 4‑day working week may be considered for suitably experienced candidates.
