Job Details

Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical campus that includes diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. 

The CE Technician II will participate in equipment planning, research, support and department projects. The ideal caregiver will have a good understanding of healthcare workflow as it pertains to Clinical Engineering. 

A caregiver in this position works days, Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. —3:30 p.m. + on call rotation.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide routine and as needed clinical engineering services (repair, maintenance, relocation, installation, etc.) for equipment as assigned. 

  • Maintain documentation of equipment, inventory, service and repairs. 

  • Collaborate with information technology staff to integrate medical equipment systems with information systems applications. 

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment as assigned. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Associate’s degree in biomedical or Electronic Engineering  

  • 2 years of Cleveland Clinic Clinical Engineering Tech I experience OR four years outside experience maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment or equipment in a mechanical or electrical technician field 

  • High School diploma/GED and four years of Cleveland Clinic Clinical Engineering Tech I experience OR six years outside experience maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment OR equipment in a mechanical or electrical technician field can substitute for work experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or electrical Engineering or IT (Information Technology) technical field can substitute for the required experience   

  • Equivalent specialized or military training may substitute for the degree 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor's Degree 

  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) 

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical demands include ability to move 75 pounds; to climb 8-foot ladders and work on overhead equipment. 
  • Ability to work in prone positions and in confined, darkened areas. 
  • Manual dexterity to use tools and work on small mechanical parts. 
  • Visual acuity sufficient to distinguish colors used for wire color coding and read finely printed blueprints and schematics. 

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
