Validation Engineering Intern

Job Summary:

As a full member of our Validation group, you will be working with the product development teams both locally and remotely, providing product validation and test automation support. You will be provided the opportunity to learn from both our Validation and Design teams working with the leading-edge test and measurement tools and technologies.

Our approach to internship is to make the successful candidate an integral part of our team. We understand that it is best to learn through direct involvement and we will provide you with tasks that enable you to learn and to be productive at the same time. The more you learn the more complex your tasks will become. The internship program is an important part of our recruiting strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Develop data acquisition suites to support characterization of R&D prototypes
• Develop new measurement analysis techniques and systems for checking device compliance to specification
• Create associated software and hardware for prototype measurements
• Design utilities to support IC verification and characterization and improve productivity
• Active member in product development teams

This position is for a 12 – 16-month student Validation internship at Semtech Canada with the Signal Integrity Products Group (SIP) in our Ottawa Design Centre.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Python programming
•    Hardware and software debug skills
•    Data acquisition experience and automation of R&D laboratory equipment
•    RF and high-speed digital (>10Gbps) measurement and debug skills
•    Familiarity with automated data collection and automation coding using Python
•    Knowledge of optical and high-speed test equipment 
•    Excellent cross functional team and leadership skills
•    Good Communication and organizational skills
•    Team player
•    Customer biased focus
•    Highly motivated, goal driven, self-starter
•    Ability to start an internship in May 2027

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $26 - $28.5 CAD Per hr.  There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
