Purpose:
McCombs School of Business is looking for a professional, team-player, and detail-oriented student employee to provide support for Recruiting Operations, Career Management and Corporate Relations department.
The Recruiting Operations department provides support to employers from across the country who recruit at the McCombs School of Business. The Recruiting Operations team partners with these recruiters to help them build an effective recruiting strategy and to assist them while they are on campus. The Recruiting Operations team is hiring student support specialists to assist with these efforts for the coming school year.
Responsibilities:
Create a positive experience for visiting recruiters, employers and students.
Assist with front desk operations of interview center of the Ford Career Center.
Assist with daily opening and closing duties in the interview center: including but not limited to restocking supplies, closing interview rooms, and assisting guests as needed.
Prepare recruiting materials for interviews and office hours.
Assist staff with data entry, generating and compiling report data into spreadsheets/tables, and other duties as needed.
Help recruiters before, during, and after evening company information sessions in Rowling Hall (RRH), University Teaching Center (UTC) and Graduate School of Business/ College of Business Administration (GSB/CBA) buildings as assigned for single-employer company events (such as information sessions, coffee chats and virtual office hours).
Assist recruiters with setting up equipment and with the return shipping of materials, when necessary.
Provide support for special recruiting events: organize, package and deliver event materials and assist during events.
Dress in Recruiting Operations shirt and dress code slacks and shoes.
Assist Recruiting Operations staff with other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.
Articulate, professional, self-starter and detail-oriented individual
Excellent customer service skills; enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Able to learn and work with new technologies and software (RecruitMcCombs, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Team player with open attitude toward schedule changes
Basic administrative skills (e-mail, photocopier, etc.)
Punctual/consistent attendance; dependable and committed to their assigned work schedule
Can manage front desk shift with little supervision; and open to communicating effectively with Recruiting Operations team
Preferred Qualifications:
0-2 years in customer service role
Previous front desk experience
Hourly Rate:
$11.00
Working Conditions:
Work performed in standard office conditions.
Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
Event support at RRH, CBA/GSB, UTC may require standing for a period of time.
Front desk coverage at Ford Career Center as scheduled
Schedule Work Shift:
10-15 hours per week
Position ends on December 2026 (for fall 2026 with the option to continue spring 2027 term)
Must be available to consistently work evenings Monday - Thursday.
Must be available to work in the Ford Career Center Monday – Friday.
Rehire eligible based on performance.
