Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has opened for a dynamic Occupational Therapist to join Manchester’s Early Intervention Occupational Therapist Team within Adult Social Care. This is a forward‑thinking, short‑term intervention service currently in its pilot phase, designed to prevent, reduce or delay the need for long‑term social care.
Our client is looking for an Occupational Therapist who is motivated, proactive and passionate about supporting Manchester residents at the earliest possible opportunity.
You’ll work with adults across the city, delivering timely, person‑centred and strengths‑based interventions that promote independence, safety and wellbeing at home. The focus is on empowering people to approach daily activities differently — not relying on equipment unless absolutely necessary.
Your work will include:
- Completing holistic, proportionate OT assessments
- Supporting individuals into Reablement where appropriate
- Providing technology‑enabled care solutions to enhance independence
- Offering practical advice, adaptive techniques and functional strategies
- Helping citizens build community connections that support long‑term resilience
- Ensuring people are linked to the right services when additional support is needed
You’ll be part of the Principal Occupational Therapy Team, reporting to the Early Intervention OT Team Manager.
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong understanding of function, adaptive techniques, Reablement, equipment and adaptations, and technology‑enabled care
- Confidence delivering short‑term, solution‑focused interventions
- Ability to work autonomously across a city‑wide service
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- A commitment to early intervention and prevention‑based practice
Requirements:
- HCPC‑registered Occupational Therapist
- Car driver (city‑wide role)
- 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday (9:00–16:30)
- Office presence required between community visits
- Some home working supported
