What you will be doing:

  • Lead trial strategy, courtroom execution, and high-exposure trial advocacy for cases formally designated as trial-set.
  • Serve as first-chair trial counsel on cases, with Staff Counsel supporting as second-chair or lead depending on exposure and complexity.
  • Partner with Staff Counsel to ensure trial preparation milestones are met, including witness strategy, exhibits, motions in limine, jury instructions, and trial themes.
  • Provide mentorship and skill development to Staff Counsel and litigation teams in trial advocacy, preparation standards, and courtroom readiness.
  • Establish and reinforce consistent trial readiness benchmarks and escalation protocols across the litigation portfolio.
  • Coordinate with Executive Staff counsel and trial paralegals to ensure trial logistics, filings, and materials are complete and timely.
  • Participate in post-trial debriefs and institutional learning to improve trial performance, consistency, and risk management across Slide.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

What you have:

Education, Experience, and Licensing:

  • JD degree from an ABA-approved program required.
  • Licensed by the Florida Bar and a member in good standing.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience practicing in Florida.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience specializing in first-party property defense required.
  • First party property jury trial experience through to verdict as first chair required .

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional courtroom and trial advocacy skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of case law governing Florida insurance claims.
  • A thorough understanding of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, Florida Evidence Code, Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, and specifically Chapter 624 and Chapter 627 of the Florida Insurance Code.
  • A thorough understanding of the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar, specifically the Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage operations effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to analyze legal issues and coach others through doing the same.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to clearly and succinctly articulate position.
  • Strong and persuasive legal writing skills and oral advocacy skills.
  • Personal integrity and adherence to a high degree of professionalism and ethical competency.
  • Proficient in MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
