Job Description

The Material Handler supports manufacturing operations by accurately receiving, storing, and delivering materials required for production. This role is responsible for maintaining organized inventory, ensuring material accuracy, and keeping production lines supplied. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail‑oriented, and committed to maintaining safety and quality standards in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Production Support

  • Receive, unload, inspect, and verify incoming raw materials, parts, and components.
  • Stage materials for production lines based on daily schedules and work orders.
  • Safely transport materials throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes or other industrial equipment.
  • Replenish production areas to prevent downtime and ensure continuous workflow.
  • Prepare finished products or components for storage or outbound shipment.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate real‑time inventory using scanning devices, ERP systems, or inventory software.
  • Perform cycle counts, stock audits, and root‑cause analysis of inventory variances.
  • Track raw materials, WIP (work‑in‑progress), and finished goods to ensure proper rotation and storage.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or overstock situations to supervisors.
  • Ensure materials are labeled, stored, and organized in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.

Quality & Safety

  • Identify and report damaged materials, discrepancies, or non‑conforming products.
  • Follow all manufacturing, quality, and safety SOPs, including PPE requirements.
  • Keep aisles, storage areas, and workstations clean and free of hazards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or material handling (preferred).
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
  • Basic computer literacy; experience with ERP or inventory software is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers and materials.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and warehouse setting with exposure to machinery, forklifts, and varying temperatures.
  • Requires adherence to safety procedures and PPE.
