This posting is for a General Utility Worker position located in the Rowan Equipment Sup Shop. Duties involve a variety of manual tasks in the upkeep of the Departments standards to include sweeping, mopping, dusting, removal of trash, cleaning of windows, cleaning of restrooms, yard maintenance, washing of equipment, light mechanical repairs and assisting VERT’s in various projects, picking up parts, and performs other related duties as required.
Position requires work during any adverse weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. which can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays. Ability to perform duties of position in accordance with all safety regulations; prepare and maintain paperwork essential to employment, equipment repair, inventory, and service records; understand both written and oral instructions; move parts and material necessary to repair and maintain equipment; and safely operate equipment for testing purposes. Ability to demonstrate commitment to providing a safe working environment by leading by example. Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Safety-toed shoes required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC01; $31,200 - $48,810
Management prefers applicants with the following:
- Experience using small hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, post hole diggers, hammer, screwdriver, torch, etc.
- Experience operating power tools such as lawn mowers, hand trimmers, air compressors, chainsaw, weed eater, skill saw, drill, etc.
- Experience performing manual labor.
Minimum Education and Experience
