Summary:

Processing blood products collected here at RPCI include the preparation of components such as Fresh Frozen Plasma, Red Blood Cells, and Platelets all in accordance with AABB regulations, taking the appropriate steps to ensure quality blood product preparation.  Responsible for ordering appropriate testing and coordinating testing to appropriate departments; transcribing, printing, and faxing documents; and managing laboratory results and/or requests via phone, email, and other communication channels. Assists with quality control procedures, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance activities, as well as maintaining laboratory inventory and processing supply orders; also assisting with training and education of employees and students.

The starting annual salary is $42,641 this can include a full comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience
 
1. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program; or
2. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and enrolled in an Associate’s degree program; or
3. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology.

NOTE:
Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.

The preferred candidate would have knowledge of patient donor processes and/or prior experience working in a donor center.
