WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT FOR US

We are looking to add a senior researcher to the Axioma by SimCorp analytics team to strengthen and expand our expertise across US fixed income, with a particular focus on assetbacked securities. SimCorp has identified the US as a growth market, and fixed income research expertise is critical to driving this growth through our analytics and risk capabilities. 

As a senior member of the Analytics Research team, you will be expected to act as a recognized authority on US ABS and the wider fixed income market. Your expertise will help shape research direction, inform product development, and reinforce SimCorp’s credibility through a good understanding of market practice. Your role will require the ability to work directly with portfolio and risk manager clients as well as across the SimCorp organization to deliver solutions to sophisticated clients.  

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

 

  • You will take leading role in defining and delivering SimCorp’s research agenda across US fixed income in conjunction with Product Management, Sales, and Research senior leadership. This includes owning research topics endtoend, from problem formulation and methodological design through to delivery, validation, and integration into production analytics and risk models. 

  • Your research will include the application of statistical, machine learning, and other data science techniques to extract insights from large and complex datasets. Beyond model-building, you will be responsible for conducting model validation and writing client-ready documentation.  

  • A core part of the role is ensuring that research insights translate into scalable, robust products. You will work closely with product management and engineering partners, exercising judgment around tradeoffs between analytical sophistication, robustness, and practical usability. You will also contribute to prioritization decisions where analytical depth and business impact must be balanced. 

  • You will provide technical leadership and mentorship within the research team, setting high standards for analytical quality, validation, and documentation. Clear and precise communication is expected, both internally and when representing SimCorp’s analytical capabilities in discussions with clients, partners, and market practitioners. 

 

WHAT WE VALUE

  • This is a senior role, and we value experience accordingly. We expect candidates to bring a strong track record of relevant professional experience in quantitative research, analytics, or modelling applied to fixed income markets. Experience gained in buyside, sellside, data, or financial technology environments is all relevant, provided it involves sustained engagement with US fixed income instruments and their associated analytics. 

  • Strong technical skills are required. We expect a solid grounding in quantitative modelling, statistics, and numerical methods as applied to financial markets, together with practical experience prototyping analytical ideas and working with large datasets in a research environment. Experience using Python for quantitative analysis and model development is expected. 

  • Candidates are expected to be educated to a Master’s level degree at a minimum in a quantitative discipline, although a PhD is preferred. A professional designation (e.g. CFA, FRM) is beneficial. 

  • We value ownership, judgment and clarity. You should be comfortable forming views, defending analytical decisions, and being accountable for outcomes, including when tradeoffs are involved. You should be able to communicate clearly to technically sophisticated audiences, have a willingness to challenge existing approaches, and a commitment to high standards of validation and documentation.

For New York City only: The annual base salary range for this position is $259,000-389,000 USD. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including health care, leave, and retirement plans. Your total compensation may vary based on role, location, department and individual performance.
