Job Description

Associate Director, Marketing Strategy I Tripadvisor

About Tripadvisor

The Tripadvisor Group connects people to experiences worth sharing, and aims to be the world’s most trusted source for travel and experiences. We leverage our brands, technology, and capabilities to connect our global audience with partners through rich content, travel guidance, and two-sided marketplaces for experiences, accommodations, restaurants, and other travel categories. The subsidiaries of Tripadvisor, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRIP), include a portfolio of travel brands and businesses, including Tripadvisor, Viator, and TheFork.

The Role

This role reports to the Director of Marketing Strategy & Operations within the Marketing team, covering both the Tripadvisor and Viator brands. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans for key marketing opportunities. You will make sure our and organizational direction and plans are rooted in and informed by real market and customer insights.

You will synthesize insights from internal and external data to form comprehensive strategy documents that drive our marketing priorities. But we are looking for a leader who does more than just deliver insight and recommendations, so you will also navigate a complex organization, influence peers, and drive the execution of specific initiatives to completion. You’ll maximize your impact by turning insight into action along with top-notch marketers and analytics partners.

Job Location: Remote US East Coast

This role is a remote position in the United States. Occasional travel to company offices as necessary.

What You Will Do

  • Insight Synthesis: Gather and synthesize external data from the travel category and the marketing industry as well as internal customer data to identify opportunities and shape our strategic decision making.

  • Strategic Planning: Formulate high-level strategy documents for major initiatives, such as international marketing expansion, new customer acquisition acceleration, demand-led supply and product development, and the effective use of 1P and 3P data across brands.

  • Initiative Implementation: Lead the coordination and execution of certain strategic initiatives that cut across marketing functions, going beyond just strategic recommendations.

  • Within-channel Support: Partner with channel owners to provide market research, intelligence, and strategy-building support to optimize individual channel roadmaps.

  • Thought Partnership: Serve as a strategic advisor to the Marketing Leadership Team and various stakeholders, providing data, analysis, and strategic oversight where needed.

Who You Will Partner With

You will work in a highly collaborative environment, partnering most closely with:

  • Analytics: To gather the necessary insights that drive strategic decision-making.

  • Finance: To align with corporate strategy modeling.

  • Marketing Leadership: To stay informed on all the high-priority areas of work in marketing.

  • Strategy and Leadership counterparts: To ensure strategic alignment across the broader business, especially outside of Marketing.
