ELECTRON
Rocket Lab’s Electron team is responsible for building, testing, and launching our Electron rocket across our launch sites and test facilities in the United States and New Zealand. Electron is one of the world’s most frequently-launched rockets, and our team behind its success are diligent, move fast, and have each others’ back to deliver a reliable rocket to the launch pad time and time again.
SENIOR SYSTEMS QUALITY ENGINEER
Based onsite at Rocket Lab's Auckland, New Zealand location, the Senior Systems Quality Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of business systems, processes, and tools to ensure quality is built into every aspect of our products and embedded throughout the entire value stream in compliance with AS9100.You will support the Quality Manager and Production organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
- Develop, implement, maintain and improve Rocket Lab business standards, processes and quality procedures ensuring completion, accuracy and compliance to AS9100
- Conducts continuous improvement activities to enhance the Quality Management System through waste elimination . Identify non-value added activities and propose method improvements
- Review internal/external customer requirements and apply quality systems to meet contractual specifications
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical or material sciences engineering, or similar engineering discipline
- 5+ years in a quality, manufacturing, or systems engineering role.
- Extensive experience with quality management systems standards (AS9100 and ISO 9001)
- Knowledge of quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Metrology, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, or various problem-solving approaches.
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
- AS9100 ASQ Certification
- Experience supporting production of complex electro-mechanical or mechanical systems in high volume work centers and/or during production ramp-up.
- Proven track record of year on year product and process improvement activities.
- Has successfully introduced new product to the shop floor having been part of the design and process development process.
- Conducted both process and design FMEAs which has resulted in substantial reduction of risk and design changes.
