Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

Essential Duties:

Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Industrial Engineer Intern to support commercial scale production and process optimization during Summer 2026. This individual will assist multiple teams on continuous improvement projects across internal and external material movement, manufacturing processing lines, and business processes.

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Monitor, evaluate, and analyze current systems and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and implement process improvement strategies using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Conduct and audit time and motion studies (work measurement) to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with teams to design and improve systems and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Prepare and present reports on improvements and operational performance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, industrial, systems, etc).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other improvement methods.
