The Opportunity
*** 4-month internship with a projected start date of May 4th ***
Are you a recent design graduate eager to launch your career in a dynamic, collaborative environment? As a Design Intern at AMA’s in-house Creative Agency, you’ll dive into a wide range of creative projects, from branding and print to digital campaigns and motion design. This is your chance to apply your fresh skills, learn from experienced professionals, and gain hands-on experience across diverse creative disciplines. You’ll collaborate with the creative team and marketing stakeholders to develop and execute creative assets for a variety of AMA’s business units. You’ll create inspiring work that will contribute to AMA’s Centennial vision of protecting what matters most to Albertans.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Report to the Creative Agency Director.
- Join AMA’s in-house Creative Agency for a 4-month internship, gaining exposure to the creative process and overall Marketing strategies for our business units.
- Design new and develop production assets to maintain marketing materials for print and online. Projects would include billboards, in-centre signage, online digital ads, video storyboards, etc.
- Work closely with copywriters and other designers to develop concepts, present and execute advertising materials.
- Manage multiple projects at one time, assisting the team in establishing visual tone, character, and messaging to effectively communicate with the target audience and fulfill the project objectives
- Have an introductory understanding of motion design and capabilities to execute simple animation videos
- Implement a strong understanding of graphic design, typography, and design systems to inform visual design.
- Develop creative, effective, and original communications, advertising layouts and a range of visual design.
- Visually reflect the goals and objectives of marketing and advertising plans, and develop marketing and advertising tactics/strategies.
- Work closely with creative vendor partners to execute final artwork including motion animators, copywriters and photographers.
- Assist in archiving all creative assets to ensure easy access.
- Maintain a strong awareness of industry trends and the competitive landscape.
- Contributes to the overall creative direction of AMA while ensuring all marketing materials stay on Brand.
What You Bring to the Table
- You’re a 3rd or 4th year student in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or a related field.
- You have a high degree of competency with digital, static, and motion design and strong conceptual development skills, with a focus on creating clear, member/consumer-centric themes.
- You have excellent knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and other related design software with the ability to procure and edit images that enhance conceptual themes.
- You have strong skills in PowerPoint, and any experience in video editing and animation would be a plus.
- You’re a masterful communicator, excelling in written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- You demonstrate competence in managing deliverables and meeting project timelines.
