Annual Salary:  $52,337.00

 

Benefits:  This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees’ retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year.  The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.

 

Basic Purpose: 

This position serves as the primary point of contact to the squadron commander for management of administrative support programs to include but not limited to processing/tracking, task management, competency validation/currency/maintenance programs, knowledge/skills development/enhancement programs, security program, supply program, civilian timecard program, government travel program, performance evaluations program, and military orders.

 

Administers admin programs and serves as the primary source of information and is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and deposition of required administrative reports and other correspondence. Assists commander in accomplishing all necessary internal operations to include administrative training, security, development of organizational operating instructions and regulations, and personnel assistance. Proposes alternate approaches to management to more efficiently operate assigned programs. Assists in planning for and coordinating the implementation and compliance with higher echelon policy and procedural requirements in the area of administration. Disseminates information concerning new or changed procedures/regulations. Based on administrative support program requirements, determines administrative needs, and assures these needs are met. Instructs others on changes in administrative policies and procedures. Trains, orients, directs, and oversees the program-related duties and work products of squadron POCs. Collects, organizes, and compiles data in order to recommend actions to the commander. Conducts reviews and briefings on all facets of management functions with recommended courses of action for resolving problems. Conducts studies, inquiries, and surveys to determine compliance with program requirements.

Professional level work in managing, coordinating or directing a major phase of a comprehensive or specialized operating program, providing staff services in various management areas, direction of a major operating division, program, unit, or functional area, or similar responsibilities.  This may include serving as an operating program manager assigned administrative, staff, or program responsibilities, coordination, promotion, and improvement of programs, providing services in the areas of formulating agency policies or operating procedures, or other management functions, supervising specialized agency services, performing highly technical managerial or administrative support duties for executive level positions, and other comparable responsibilities.

 

Essential Functions:  The functions vary but may include the following:

  • Plans, organizes and/or directs a component of an agency or institutional program or a major division, program, or function established to accomplish a basic goal or mission of the agency.

  • Interprets and advises agency personnel and the general public on departmental rules, regulations and laws governing the operation of the agency, division or department program.

  • Prepares administrative, statistical and/or fiscal documents pertaining to departmental activity.

  • Performs the execution, publishing, and filing of military pay orders and travel orders.

  • Responsible for all planning, purchase request, and inventory control for automated equipment.

  • Manages all file systems within the department ensuring files are properly indexed, labeled, and stored.  Manages publication library and form files.

  • Knowledge of IEMS, AROWS, ATAPS and DTS programs.

  • Management of Enlisted and Officer evaluation program.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the methods of organization and management; of public administration; of agency policies and procedures; of grant or contract program requirements; of the legislative process; of basic research and statistical techniques; and of federal and state laws and regulations relating to administration of assigned programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; to establish and develop training programs; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions; and to organize and present facts and opinions.

Education and Experience: requirements at this level consist of a bachelor's degree and one year of professional or technical administrative* experience in business or public administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education.
