The Schedule Management Office (SMO) Eastern Regional Team Lead manages and maintains project schedules in the Eastern Region (Divisions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6) in accordance with the NCDOT State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) in SAP.
For scheduling issues related to projects located within their region, the SMO Regional Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact for Project Managers and the SMO Manager. The Regional Team Lead collaborates with other staff members in their region to address schedule change requests, resolve Schedule Tracking and Reporting System (STaRS) network issues, update past-due schedule data, validate information in schedule reports, and attend project schedule-related meetings, such as PS&E review meetings and 15-month Let review meetings.

Registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors is preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC20 $70,478-$123,336

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Considerable knowledge of the project development process—from the planning phase, through environmental document preparation and completion, continuing through the design phase, and concluding with project letting.
  • Experience conveying technical and schedule-related information across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with problem-solving skills and managing multiple tasks simultaneously, particularly under time constraints and pressure.
  • Working knowledge of the SAP system.
  • Experience in data manipulation using Microsoft Excel and SAP Business Warehouse

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
