Job Summary:
The Adjunct Instructor for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is responsible for delivering instruction in didactic, laboratory, and clinical settings in alignment with curriculum outcomes. Key duties include evalua
ting student performance, maintaining records, providing mentorship, and analyzing program data in accordance with university policies and accreditation standards. The position requires professional competency in diagnostic medical sonography and fosters a student-centered learning environment that emphasizes ethical practice and clinical excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
40% Provide didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction in assigned Diagnostic Medical Chronography courses and assist with curriculum implementation and adherence to accreditation standards.
25% Evaluate student academic and clinical performance using established assessment methods and maintain course records, grades, attendance, and required documentation.
20% Supervise clinical instruction provided by clinical preceptors for DMS students through on-site clinical visits, phone communication, and email correspondence; maintain records of visits and communications as required by JRC-DMS.
10% Maintain scheduled office hours to support student advising, mentoring, and academic success.
5% Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program and department operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree
Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
Possess the appropriate credentials specific the concentrations offered (AB and OB/GYN) and demonstrate effectiveness in teaching the assigned subjects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
5 years full-time, professional experience as a registered sonographer in the concentration of AB, OB/GYN, and Vascular sonography.
Special and/or physical qualifications:
Be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Certifications:
Current, valid RDMS credential in Abdomen and OB/GYN through ARDMS
Job Competencies
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills- Advanced
Organizational skills including record keeping (electronic or paper)-Advanced
Teaching and instruction in scanning skills at beginning through more-advanced levels-Advanced
