Salary Range:

To scale our current impact, ASU Prep is advancing a major expansion program taking fundamental responsibility for the communities we serve.The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide therapy services to eligible students. The COTA will collect data and write therapy notes to provide the OT with necessary information to make appropriate decisions about the student’s therapy. The COTA will collaborate with other school professionals to ensure that the student’s needs are being met to enable the student’s peak performance in the classroom. Also, the COTA may relay information to the student’s guardians and be present and participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings at the discretion of the OT.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate Degree or higher from an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) Certified School.
Bachelor’s of Science Degree preferred.
Licensed by the Arizona of Occupational Board of Examiners.
Registered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
Member of American Occupational Therapy Association, preferred.
Current Professional Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification & Current first aid certification.
School/pediatric experience, preferred.
Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct therapy for students identified by the supervising Occupational Therapist (OT), following written therapy plans, individualized education programs, individual support plans or protocols developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
Gather data related to the student’s disability following direction from the OT.
Track and document student progress towards meeting established objectives as stated in the therapy plan and report this information to the supervising OT within defined timelines.
Provides documentation during a therapy session by collecting and quantifying data.
Prepares and implements evidenced based therapeutic activities aligned with student goals.
Collaborates with the supervising OT in establishing appropriate therapy goals.
Collaborates with teachers, the special education team, and other staff to ensure continuity of care.
Assists with departmental operations such as scheduling therapy sessions and supporting classroom needs.
Participates in parent conferences/IEP meetings at the discretion of the OT.
Signs and initials treatment/therapy notes for review and co-signature by the supervising OT.
Maintains coordination between general curriculum area and therapy activities, including preparation of material for teachers and students when necessary.
Maintains accurate student records and keeps information secure and confidential following FERPA guidelines.
Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Ability to learn special methods and procedures specific to working with students.
Understands the scope of school-based occupational therapy.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school network.
Ability to articulate, represent professional demeanor.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations and to respond promptly to student, staff, and public needs.
Ability to work with a variety of people and maintain confidentiality of information.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and web-based applications is essential.
Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
