Job Description

To assist in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services in direct patient care and departmental upkeep in coordination with the rehabilitation team and in compliance with organizational goals and appropriate regulatory agencies. Performs Occupational Therapy procedures as delegated by an Occupational Therapist and under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to treat adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with physical disease or injury and assesses and reports patients progress in obtaining maximum function. Must perform in accordance with established Occupational Therapist Assistant guidelines.

Minimum Education:
High School or equivalent
Specialized/technical training Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or predecessor organization.

Minimum Skills:
Must demonstrate knowledge of current practice in the field of Occupational Therapy.
Must demonstrate mature and sound judgment.
Must demonstrates effective written and verbal skills.
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills with the Occupational Therapist and the health care team in order to maximize the patient's functional outcome.


Required Certifications:
Occupational Therapy Assistant - OTA (CA BOT) If no certification upon hire, one must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
(*Limited Permit Status from CBOT required for the first 90 days, while Complete Certification is obtained).
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
