About the role

Group 1001 is a consumer-centric, technology-driven family of insurance companies on a mission to deliver outstanding value and operational performance by combining financial strength and stability with deep insurance expertise and a can-do culture. Group1001’s culture emphasizes the importance of collaboration, communication, core business focus, risk management, and striving for outcomes. This goal extends to how we hire and onboard our most valuable assets – our employees.

Why This Role Matters:

The ABS Operations Specialist (“AOS”) will join our New York-based Structured Credit team to support the operational needs of the Group1001’s early-stage ABS management platform. This individual will play a critical role in the end-to-end lifecycle management of private Asset-Backed Securities and Asset-Based Financing transactions, with primary responsibility for the integrity of ongoing collateral monitoring, transaction funding, cash reconciliations and transaction reporting. This role is essential for ensuring the seamless execution of the investment pipeline, maintaining compliance standards, and managing the complexities of trade funding and portfolio reconciliation. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of structured products, cash flow modeling, and the regulatory complexities inherent in the private ABS market.

How You'll Contribute:

  • Trade Settlement: Facilitate the seamless settlement of private ABS funding process.
  • Security Onboarding: Manage the setup of new securities, ensuring all static data and structural nuances – including tranches, waterfalls, and credit enhancements – are captured accurately.
  • Cash Management: Coordinate all cash movements related to funding requests, warehouse borrowing, and expense payments. Coordinating closely with external and internal stakeholders to resolve any cash reconciliation breaks or discrepancies.
  • Reporting & Reconciliation: Oversee the production of required ABS reporting and manage cash/portfolio reconciliations. Monitor ongoing transaction compliance requirements, including eligibility criteria and portfolio concentration limits as well as related warehouse financing covenants.
  • Process Optimization: Optimize and streamline collateral performance monitoring and surveillance processes.
  • Document Review: Review legal documentation to ensure the reporting accuracy of compliance tests, deal triggers, and covenants.
  • Waterfall Management: Calculate waterfall distributions and review/approve trustee-provided waterfalls.
  • Counterparty Liaison: Work directly with counterparties to resolve funding and payment issues.
  • Regulatory Alignment: Ensure strict adherence to all internal investment guidelines and external regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in investment operations with a specific focus on structured products (private asset backed securities, forward flows, or warehouse lending).
  • Strong understanding of fixed income securities. Deep operational knowledge of private asset backed securities, leverage facilities, and warehouses.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex ABS legal documentation, including indentures, credit agreements, servicing agreements, etc.
  • Advanced Excel skills, VBA, SQL, and a firm grasp of payment mechanics are required. Other programming languages are a plus. Experience with Aladdin, Intex, DV01, or Wall Street Office (WSO) are preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly regarding structural nuances and data integrity.
  • Ability to independently engage counterparties to resolve complex settlement breaks and reconciliation issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide clear, data-driven recommendations on portfolio compliance and reporting.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively
