A Sr. Equipment Operator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works. The candidate in this position will work in the South Concrete Sector. The South Concrete Sector performs permanent concrete repairs of concrete street panels, curbs, driveway approaches, and alleys. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge in building forms, setting rebar and dowels, directing concrete pours, and is skilled in all aspects of concrete finishing, as well as a solid background of Heavy Equipment operation on frequently used construction equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Three (3) years of experience in operation of motorized equipment or heavy equipment such as backhoe or excavator
- Possession of a CDL Class A with a Tank Endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of concrete maintenance experience
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
The Sr. Equipment Operator job responsibilities include:
- Operate on-road equipment, including operating a dump truck and/ or tractor trailer
- Operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, skid steer, excavator, and other various heavy equipment
- Concrete repair and maintenance
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures
- Knowledge and use of data entry systems such as VueWorks and/or work order management systems
- Capability to step into a leadership role when needed, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely
- Trains new crew members and monitors performance
Working Conditions
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.)
Physical Demands
Heavy Work — Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Working in extreme heat and cold and inclement weather.
