University Health Services (UHS) is an on‐campus medical facility serving the students of UT Austin. Staff provide healthcare, public health leadership, and other services designed to protect and advance the health of students and support the well-being of the campus community.
- We are filling 3-4 positions.
- This position will be for two semesters, starting Fall 2026, with the possibility of continued employment beyond the 2026-2027 academic year.

Purpose
The Student Clinical Assistant program provides UT students with the opportunity to support the day-to-day operations of University Health Services (UHS) clinics. Students assist providers and clinic staff with operational and clinical support tasks, gaining paid, hands-on experience in a healthcare environment with limited direct patient interaction.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts
- Follow departmental call out procedures for planned and unplanned absences
- Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA/FERPA compliance
- Exhibit exceptional customer service, professionalism, and teamwork in all aspects of work
- Maintain a clean work environment, including cleaning physical therapy equipment, stocking linens, and cleaning tables.
- Assisting PT/PTA in leading patients through basic exercises if appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Sophomore/second year student or greater
- UT Austin undergraduate student enrolled in 6 or more credit hours per semester and eligible to work in the United States
- Able to communicate clearly with patients and staff
- Able to comfortably interact with others from various backgrounds, while treating all patients and staff with respect and dignity.
- Exhibits exceptional customer service skills when working with patients and staff
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pre-Med field ( with preferred focus in pre-physical therapy).
- 1 year of experience working or volunteering in a medical clinic or healthcare setting
Salary Range
$10.00
All students start at $10.00 and receive a $0.50 increase at the start of each fall semester after completing one academic year working with Healthyhorns.
Working Conditions
- Will work in Physical Therapy Department of University Health Services
- Dress Code:
- Scrubs or clean, well maintained athletic attire
- No shorts
- No open toed shoes
- No crop tops or tank tops
- May work around standard office conditions
- May work around biohazards
- Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in offices, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance
Work Shift
- Must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week
- Must be able to commit to shifts of 3 hours or longer
- Shifts will be completed during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 7 am – 5 pm
