Job Description
The Global Entity Expansion and Restructure team is the centralized accounting function responsible for the program management and consolidated postings for legal entity formation and restructures. The team sets processes and standards in support of the diligence, document preparation and leadership approval of these corporate projects, as well as, evaluating accounting impact for both consolidated and standalone legal entity results.
In this capacity, our accounting team members work across stakeholder groups, including Accounting, Business, Tax, Legal, and Treasury ensuring controllership, consistency and accuracy of our posting and reporting for these of critical corporate projects. Acting as an accountant, the team owns the project accounting assessment, coordination with our global accounting teams and centralized posting for entity restructures.
This position will be responsible for supporting the accounting on both consolidated and legal entity level for restructuring and closures. In this role you will work with cross-department business leaders and functional accounting teams to ensure a seamless process through proposal, approval and posting into the company’s financial statements. Candidates will work in a fast-paced environment, manage through ambiguity and complexity while supporting multiple, simultaneous project launches impacting the global accounting organization.
Key job responsibilities
This role requires excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to senior leadership. Candidate experience should cover financial processes, project management, accounting conclusion documentation, and process design.
Job Responsibilities
• Work independently to lead projects to support Amazon's corporate structure to ensure appropriate business support and controllership.
• End to end accounting ownership for recording and reporting transactions under common control.
• Responsible for delivery of complex cross functional projects
• Proactively identifying, researching, consulting, and drafting technical memorandums on significant transactions.
• Prioritize work for global project teams, monitoring transactions to ensure high standards are maintained.
• Identifying and communicating project risks to senior leadership, along with clear recommendations for resolution or mitigation.
• Partner with corporate legal, tax and financial operations team on communication of key operational and accounting issues identified.
• End to end accounting ownership for recording and reporting transactions under common control.
• Manage risks across disparate business functions, driving mitigation and resolution.
• Build relationships across multiple teams within Amazon to foster a collaborative and productive working relationship.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency
- Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification
- Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients
- Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA- Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency
- Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification
- Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients
- Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions
