This position reports to:
Production Engineering Manager__
Flow Simulation & Cost Engineer
As a Flow Simulation & Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for modeling production flows to ensure efficient, scalable, and robust manufacturing processes. You will play a critical role in estimating production costs and in defining the Target Production Time that guides industrial and business decisions.
This role bridges manufacturing engineering, operations, and cost management by translating simulations into actionable production and cost insights.
Key Objectives
Define and validate Target Production Time
Obtain an overall overview showing Workstation, Operations, Target- and Standard- Production Time
Plan, model and optimize production flows to support scalable volume manufacturing
Estimate production cost early in product development with good accuracy
Support data-driven decision-making through simulation- and cost-based analyses
Main Responsibilities
Perform time studies with production using MTM and/or REFA methodologies
Optimize factory and line layouts to improve throughput and material flow
Develop and run production flow simulations using FlexSim
Perform scenario analyses to evaluate alternative processes, layout, and capacity concepts
Conduct capacity modeling for current and future volume scenarios
Analyze production cost drivers and perform cost analysis across different scenarios
Deliver early-stage cost estimations to support product and industrialization decisions
Collaborate closely with Production, Process Technology Department, Product Development Engineers and Controlling.
Success Criteria
Success in this role will be measured by:
Good and verified cost accuracy in early-stage production estimates for product development
Simulation-to-reality accuracy, ensuring modeled results reflect actual production performance
Improved throughput across production systems
Reduced bottlenecks and increased flow efficiency
Qualifications
Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field – relevant experience can compensate.
Documented experience with discrete event simulation, preferably FlexSim
Solid understanding of manufacturing systems, production flows, and capacity planning
Experience with cost analysis and cost estimation.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and data interpretation skills
Experience with MTM and/or REFA time measurement methods
