Job Description

Position Summary

The JetVac Truck Operator is responsible for the operation, care and maintenance of the JetVac truck used for various installations.

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform daily functional and safety inspections of assigned equipment, and any light maintenance needed.
  • Ensure their assigned vehicles are properly maintained and in accordance with DOT guidelines.
  • Understand how to operate a Vactor 2100 series truck.
  • Understand how to use the different pressures.
  • Open and closes storm grates and sewer manholes.
  • Clean and vacuum pipes and boxes.
  • Clean and vacuum for CCTV crews and survey pipes for clients.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience:  High School diploma or equivalent preferred; and a minimum of two years’ experience in trenchless installation, including boiler operation.
  • License Requirement: A valid CDL driver’s license required with clean motor vehicle report. Must possess a CDL with required endorsements (Hazmat, Tanker and Air Brakes), compliant with Insituform’s motor vehicle standards.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to listen and comprehend instructions accurately; ability to communicate with other employees.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to use a computer to view data.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Physical Demands: In the performance of duties for this position, the employee is: regularly required to sit (while driving), talk, and hear without visual controls; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, grip, or feel objects, tools or controls, repetitive motion, required to walk, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, stretch, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, steps and narrow passages, walk uneven surfaces and wear appropriate personal protective equipment; balance, and taste or smell; regularly lift, push, pull and move up to 75 pounds. Ability to use pneumatic, battery powered or electric tools. Must have ability to wear respirator and body harness while entering confined spaces. Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, peripheral, and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability for extended concentration. Must be able to enter confined spaces and comply with safety policies.
  • Work Environment: In performing the duties for this job, the employee will generally work in outside weather conditions (at job sites with moving vehicles and mechanical operations). Will be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate. Travel by automobile and airplane required.
