Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$67.070 - $86.540 - $96.930


 

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices. 


 

What You Will Do
Under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, or Manager, perform those duties directly involved with a variety of procedures, and prescribed treatment plans on radiation oncology patients.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) - Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board -REQUIRED


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 Year experience in radiation therapy treatment planning.

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED


Essential Functions

  • Treatment Planning and Clinical Responsibilities
    Interpret Radiation Oncologist prescriptions and clinical intent to develop high-quality, patient-specific radiation treatment plans using appropriate treatment planning systems with a high degree of attention to detail, consistency, and patient safety.
    Design, evaluate, and optimize treatment plans utilizing appropriate techniques based on disease site, intent of treatment, and available technology, ensuring target coverage and normal tissue sparing.
    Coordinate and support CT simulation processes, including contouring, image review, and immobilization strategies to promote accurate and reproducible treatment delivery.
    Collaborate closely with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and Radiation Therapists throughout simulation, planning, and treatment implementation.
    Participate in planning conferences, peer review, chart rounds, and other multidisciplinary forums supporting plan quality and consistency.
    Assist with specialty procedures such as brachytherapy, prostate implants, adaptive planning, or other advanced clinical procedures as applicable.

  • Documentation and Clinical Systems
    Maintain complete, accurate, and timely treatment planning documentation within treatment planning systems, record and verify systems, and hospital EMRs.
    Ensure treatment plans, approvals, and supporting records are accurate, auditable, and compliant with departmental, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
    Initiate and document appropriate supplies and charges in applicable billing systems.
    Demonstrate adaptability and consistency when working across multiple treatment planning platforms, R and V systems, and linear accelerator technologies.

  • Physics, Quality, and Technical Support
    Work in partnership with Medical Physicists to ensure plans meet dosimetric, technical, and safety requirements prior to treatment.
    Assist with quality assurance initiatives, process improvement efforts, and continuous quality improvement activities.
    Report equipment or system issues promptly to leadership and participate in resolution as appropriate.
    Support inventory tracking and general organization within planning and physics work areas.
    Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace.

  • Professional Development and Competency
    Maintain ongoing clinical competency through institutional training, continuing education, and professional development activities.
    Participate in departmental meetings, in services, and educational programs in a proactive and engaged manner.
    Complete required learning modules to support competency in treating adult, geriatric, and pediatric patient populations.
    Participate in at least one quality, departmental performance, or process improvement initiative annually.
    Demonstrate commitment to evidence based practice, lifelong learning, and professional growth within the field of medical dosimetry.
