Job Description
The Director, Corporate Security will provide platform-level management of the security department that keeps employees safe and world-class technologies and facilities secure. This role will be focused on standardizing the QTS security posture to include the protection of physical assets, technology, facilities, equipment, products, and services with an emphasis on supervising security professionals and contract employees. This role is responsible for QTS domestic and future overseas security operations reporting to our SVP, Corporate Security. On-site work hours are required to support a 24X7X365 data center environment and is not eligible for remote and/or hybrid work.
RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.
- Directly manage and lead the Regional Security Managers
- Assist with the hiring of new Security Managers across the QTS enterprise
- Develops and maintains policies, procedures, Basis of Designs (BODs), and standards to ensure execution of Portfolio Physical Security strategies to include enforcement of business conduct and integrity standards, employee safety and security, investigations, crisis response, business continuity, and government partnerships across all QTS sites
- Regularly communicates updates to key partners on incidents, emerging risks, and other issues that may impact QTS’s data center operations, employees, or vendors
- Partner with Facilities and other QTS business units to identify safety and security deficiencies, and develop customized policies and procedures to gain compliance with regulations internal and external to QTS and evaluate risks that carry a significant risk to QTS’s data center(s)
- Manage the election of vendors providing guard force and penetration testing services, and maintaining close partnerships with cross-functional teams to ensure a secure working environment
- Establishes and monitors performance metrics to determine team effectiveness
- Deliver training on security topics, assist in the coordination of security services to support planned and unplanned operations, and support incident investigation efforts
- Participate in security audit and compliance controls such as ISO 17799, ISO 27001 Frameworks, HITRUST, SOX, SOC 1 & 2, and relevant PCI requirements
- Knowledge and familiarization with Local Emergency Response Action Plans and evacuation procedures
- Develop and maintain working relationships with International, Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement as well as Fire and EMS.
- Exposure to loss prevention, video surveillance, biometrics, executive protection, CCTV, and related physical security skills and technologies is required.
- Perform data analysis and create benchmarking to support risk assessments and threat identification
- Ability to assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual budget forecasting and manage organization within existing budget parameters
- Assist in readiness assessments and evaluations of potential new sites and existing building construction sites on an as-needed basis and updating of the Basis of Design (BOD) for all sites
- Participate in and lead SECOPS/FACOPS, Technical, and Security Assessment Working Groups/Meetings
- Host Global security meetings held with QSO team. Teach and insist on the importance of being proactive by focusing on risk management and best practices and procedures in security.
- Implement performance of data center security standards, policies and practices; engage in the daily operations of the vendors providing services including security, life-safety systems, training and risk assessment; conduct investigations of Code of Conduct and other violations as needed.
- Participate in and be aware of site surveys and physical security requirements for the global construction of new facilities. Review plans for renovating existing facilities to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Security representative to the Insider Threat HUB
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
- Ten or more years of security operations experience in a fast paced corporate environment
- Ten or more years of experience in a management or security advisor role
- Ten or more years of experience with security technologies including CCTV, Access Control, Incident Management Systems, and Security Operations Centers
- Familiar with emergency procedure protocols and regulatory interfaces
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices in physical security strategies, principles, standards, policies and procedures
- Ten or more years of experience conducting investigations including criminal, human resources, and safety incidents
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for 8-12 hours per day
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certifications
- Experience in Data Center security design
- 15 or more years experience in the areas of emergency/disaster management, physical security, critical incident stress management, risk management, and business resiliency
- Experience with security technologies including Video Surveillance, Access Control, Incident Management Systems, and Security Operations Centers
- Certification in Insider Threat programs and procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent customer service skills
- Travel in region, nationally, and internationally is required (up to 25% annually)
- Continuous Process Improvement experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Project and computer aided drafting software
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle typical emergency and crisis situations efficiently and effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; for the purpose of public interaction and report writing
