Title: Manager, Ocean Freight (France, Italy and Spain).
Location: Amsterdam or London for the first 3 to 6 months, then Permanent Position in Paris, France.
As Regional Ocean Manager you will be co-responsible for Flexport Ocean FCL P&L in France, Spain and Italy with the local General Managers. You will have the chance to be part of Flexport launch in France, and to support our growth in our young Italian and Spanish markets too. You are the commercial arm of our ocean organisation, and collaborate with our procurement and allocation teams. You sit also closely with our sales organisation: we start from our clients, build solutions that embrace their supply chain and procurement needs while taking into account the market dynamics at play. We are our clients ocean freight consultants.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Help manage the Ocean P&L for your region through scaling volume and increasing yield;
- Be the market expert and support the commercial organization with market-specific intelligence, trade idiosyncrasies, and directly interfacing with customer;
- Help design Ocean FCL products and generate customized go-to-market strategies for customers;
- Analyze the P&L and create reports for your regions;
- Help with tenders and RFQs for your district to secure regional and global customers;
- Interface with procurement and pricing teams to drive profitable business, identify growth opportunities, and capture market-specific knowledge;
- Identify and drive improvement in go-to-market, operational, and financial processes;
- Drive volume forecasting and allocation strategies for your region;
- Participate in P&L reviews and book of business growth rhythms;
- Partner with commercial teams to understand and translate customers’ growth potential and levers;
- Drive financial health levers for your district including quoting, invoicing, and dispute escalation;
- Build and maintain local relationships with our core ocean carriers;
Prerequisites:
- 5+ years of prior Ocean Freight experience at a top freight forwarder or carrier or 5+ years of supply chain experience and a BA/BS Degree;
- Mandatory experience in logistics pricing and procurement role;
- Proficient English, French + Spanish, Italian mandatory;
- Ability to dig out and interpret data;
- Past P&L management experience preferred;
- We need someone handy and willing to get things done by themselves, the job requires both strategic vision and ground floor execution;
- Bias to Action, Process, Structure;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
- An obsession with client happiness. You succeed when they succeed;
- Courage to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it. See something broken? Fix it.
