Job purpose
- To maximize Amgen's value propositions through first-class medical and scientific projects, services, and expertise, with key scientific customers within a therapeutic area.
- To lead and manage the MSL team and maximize the value of them.
- To develop and implement scientific programs in collaboration with external/internal customers.
- To lead key field-based medical initiatives to deliver results to improve medical practice in the responsible TA.
- To be a key member in the brand team to develop product strategy with office-based/local commercial team.
Key responsibility
- To identify, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with current and future scientific experts, cooperative study groups.
- To build and maintain a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative team environment, managing the WLB of each member.
- To develop MSL activity plan in collaboration with MA/CMAL and Biz team.
- To ensure conduction of MSL activity plan, achieving quality and quantity of MSL standard (40/70 engagement) as well as the initiative-driven contribution from each MSL to the brand value, in line with compliance regulations.
- To collaborate with local and global stakeholders in Amgen.
- To discuss scientific value messages, clinical outcomes and patient benefits with scientific experts and hospital pharmacists.
- To ensure society engagement: support of international and local congresses.
- To deliver internal training on selected topics.
- To lead and develop the local medical strategy and medical activities for the product(s) in accordance with internal and external regulations.
- To organize local advisory board meetings, investigator meetings
- To provide medical expertise for pipeline products
Basic Qualifications Selection Criteria (minimum Qualifications)
- Master’s degree in life-science or relevant area, or equivalent education history
- Minimum of 5 years in pharmaceutical industry, or proven industry collaboration in academia
- Experience in medical department or clinical development
- Communication/negotiation skills with scientific experts and internal stakeholders
- Team management and coaching/teaching skills to support/encourage members including those in developmental stage.
- Customer orientated, science-based mindset with business acumen.
- Fluent in Japanese and English
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Requirements
- MD, PharmD or PhD.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle, and commercialization process with advanced understanding of other functions including, but not limited to, R&D, Safety, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Regulatory, and Value&Access.
- Therapeutic area knowledge and experience are preferable.
- Network of customer contacts in therapeutic area
- Experience with clinical study management and conduct
- Capability of office work and project management
