Position Summary

The Fraud Ops Intermediate Analyst is responsible for identifying, investigating, and mitigating fraud risks impacting Citi Private Bank clients. This role manages complex investigations, supports escalations, and provides guidance on fraud-related matters within a 24/7 monitoring environment. The position requires strong analytical skills, sound risk judgment, and the ability to balance robust fraud controls with a best-in-class client experience.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve complex fraud alerts and suspicious activity.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial transactions and account reviews to identify and prevent complex fraudulent schemes and emerging trends.
  • Initiate and manage outbound communication with Citi Private Bank clients for transaction verification and as part of the investigative process.
  • Exercise independent judgment in evaluating fraud risk and determining appropriate actions.
  • Lead and conduct comprehensive investigations into potential fraud cases, including evidence collection, analysis, and detailed reporting to support resolution and recovery.
  • Review high-risk alerts and escalated cases.
  • Take ownership of the structured management and resolution of fraud-related customer complaints, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen fraud controls and operational effectiveness.
  • Partner with Fraud Strategy, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and business stakeholders to address fraud-related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and internal control requirements.
  • Support business continuity and operational readiness within a 24/7 operating environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in fraud operations, fraud investigations, financial crime, risk management, or banking operations.
  • Languages: Fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin, English is required.
  • Strong understanding of fraud typologies and fraud detection practices.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and investigative mindset.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
  • Amenable to working on an APAC/EMEA shift and open to a 24/7 shift environment, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Experience supporting private banking, wealth management, or high-net-worth client segments.
  • Knowledge of wire transfer fraud, payment fraud, digital banking fraud, account takeover, and emerging fraud schemes.
