About the role
Mattermost is seeking a Senior Technical Account Manager (TAM) is a customer-facing technical leader responsible for ensuring the successful deployment, integration, and secure operation of the Mattermost platform for enterprise, public sector, and defense clients across Germany and Europe.
This role combines deep expertise in infrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps with strong customer engagement and project leadership skills. The TAM acts as a trusted technical advisor—bridging engineering, product, and customer teams to drive secure, compliant, and mission-critical implementations in highly regulated and air-gapped environments.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Success & Secure Solution Delivery
- Lead technical onboarding, configuration, and production deployment for strategic enterprise and public sector customers.
- Design, validate, and implement secure, scalable architectures for Mattermost across cloud, hybrid, and air-gapped environments.
- Ensure compliance alignment with relevant European and German frameworks such as BSI IT-Grundschutz, ISO 27001, NIS2, and NATO security standards.
- Guide customers in integrating Mattermost with identity management systems (SSO, SAML, OAuth, LDAP, Active Directory), DevOps pipelines, and monitoring systems.
- Provide proactive technical guidance to minimize operational risk and ensure high availability, resilience, and performance.
Technical Leadership & Advocacy
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned strategic accounts.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Support teams to resolve complex technical issues and represent customer needs internally.
- Develop reusable assets (automation scripts, deployment playbooks, documentation) that enable secure and scalable deployments.
- Participate in internal technical reviews and contribute to improving onboarding processes and implementation methodologies.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Present complex technical concepts clearly to both executive and technical stakeholders.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships that support product adoption, expansion, and customer advocacy.
- Maintain clear documentation of deployment architectures, security considerations, and customer feedback.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Technical Account Management, Solutions Engineering, DevOps Engineering, or similar technical customer-facing roles.
- Strong technical expertise in Linux system administration, networking, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure.
- Hands-on scripting or development experience (Python, Go, Bash, Node.js, or similar).
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure system architecture.
- Experience with DevSecOps tools and workflows (GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines).
- Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise or government clients with complex infrastructure environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled information as defined by U.S. export control laws, including EAR and ITAR.
- Eligible for German security clearance or equivalent NATO clearance
- Must be legally authorized to work in Germany.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with defense, public sector, or regulated industries in Europe.
- Familiarity with BSI IT-Grundschutz, NIS2 Directive, ISO 27001, or NATO security standards.
- Experience supporting air-gapped or classified environments.
- Open-source contributions or experience with secure collaboration platforms.
- Experience with mobile device management (Intune, MobileIron, Workspace ONE).
- Startup or high-growth SaaS environment experience.
