The Chemistry Department at Wellesley College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Organic Chemistry for the Fall 2026 semester. The successful applicant will teach five laboratory sections, most of which will be in organic chemistry. This position is benefits-eligible and has the possibility of being extended through the Spring 2027 semester. In addition to class meeting times, the candidate will hold regular in-person office hours, promptly respond to student inquiries throughout the semester, and attend relevant teaching team and departmental meetings. There are no expectations for this position regarding formal academic advising. The candidate will be expected to engage in professional development and departmental service as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
Applicants should have a broad background in chemistry, experience teaching undergraduates, and strong teaching, writing, and interpersonal skills. Candidates with experience teaching undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory are strongly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the time of appointment, although candidates who are ABD will be considered.

Position Information:
Teaching Load: 5 chemistry lab sections
Term of Appointment: Fall semester with the possibility to extend into the spring.
Target Start Date: 8/31/26
Salary: This position pays $37,647.50 for the fall semester.
