As a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—you’ll be doing things that matter, leading at every level, and winning a better way. We’re committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where everyone’s empowered to be their best.

About us …

At Ellis & Watts Global Industries, Inc., we thrive on solving the toughest engineering problems. Our equipment operates where failure is not an option — nuclear facilities, medical environments, and military applications. If you want to work on technology that truly matters, this is the place.

As a part of Marmon Holdings, backed by Berkshire Hathaway, we offer the opportunity to do meaningful work, lead at every level, and contribute to solutions that matter.  We’re committed to innovation, continuous learning, and a culture where every team member is empowered to excel.

The role …

As a Project Engineer, you will take full ownership of projects from the moment an order is received through design, procurement, manufacturing, and testing. You’ll serve as the technical lead, coordinating cross‑functional teams and ensuring that every project is delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with customer and industry requirements. This role requires strong engineering judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects with minimal supervision.

What you’ll do …

  • Take full ownership of project scope, ensuring every requirement, deadline, and budget target is achieved
  • Drive project execution by coordinating design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, and shipping activities
  • Lead design reviews and run weekly manufacturing updates to keep teams aligned
  • Analyze customer purchase orders and specifications, researching industry standards to ensure custom designs meet all requirements
  • Maintain control of project scope by identifying and managing changes early
  • Produce all technical documentation needed for internal guidance and customer approval
  • Build and maintain project schedules, anticipating challenges and prioritizing work effectively
  • Review engineering drawings to improve clarity, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
  • Select components and materials, and write detailed procurement specifications for custom parts
  • Review vendor quotes for technical compliance and value
  • Troubleshoot issues during manufacturing, testing, and field deployment
  • Track material and labor costs to ensure alignment with financial targets
  • Support estimating and technical development for project changes
  • Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders at all levels
  • Operate with a high degree of independence to deliver successful project outcomes

What we’re looking for …

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, or Aerospace)
  • At least 2 years of project engineering experience involving the design and manufacture of custom equipment
  • Experience with industrial design, building codes, and applicable standards is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web‑based applications, and engineering software such as Autodesk, Autodesk Inventor, and MathCAD
  • A self‑starter with strong ownership, excellent time‑management skills, and a high level of initiative
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Additional requirements …

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • On-site position at our Batavia, OH facility
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% annually
