Location: New York, NY
Team: Equity Research
Firm: Financial Technology Partners (FT Partners)

Company Overview

Financial Technology Partners (FT Partners) is the only investment bank focused exclusively on the dynamic and rapidly growing financial technology (FinTech) sector. Founded by senior Goldman Sachs alumni, FT Partners is consistently recognized as a top-tier advisor, having been awarded “Investment Banking Firm of the Year” and “Dealmaker of the Year” by M&A Advisor.

Our firm combines deep sector knowledge with world-class execution and is uniquely positioned at the intersection of technology and finance. With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and industry thought leadership, we continue to expand our platform—including our growing Equity Research division, which delivers cutting-edge insights into the FinTech landscape.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Equity Research Associate or Vice President, depending on experience, to join our growing research team in New York City. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to the FinTech ecosystem while contributing to the build-out of a differentiated research product in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

This role could allow for rapid expansion of responsibility, as the Associate/VP will work closely with the entire equity research team, the investment banking team, and FT Partners’ leadership to generate high-quality, actionable research and support institutional investor engagement. This includes financial modeling, thematic analysis, industry forecasting, client interaction, and the mentoring of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Analysis

  • Lead or support coverage of FinTech companies and industry subsectors.
  • Build and maintain robust financial models, including earnings forecasts, valuations (DCF, comps), and scenario planning.
  • Conduct in-depth company and sector research using public filings, proprietary data, and third-party sources.
  • Analyze market, competitive, and regulatory trends that influence investment outlooks.
  • Author high-quality research reports, investment recommendations, and thematic pieces.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate investment ideas and research findings to institutional clients, internal stakeholders, and sales/trading teams.
  • Prepare and present materials for client meetings, industry events, roadshows, and conferences.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for client inquiries and relationship management.

Team Leadership & Collaboration (VP-level focus)

  • Mentor, train, and review work from junior Research Analysts.
  • Work collaboratively across teams—including investment banking—for insights while maintaining research independence.
  • Help shape and refine FT Partners’ equity research strategy and product suite.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • MBA or CFA designation (or candidacy) is preferred, particularly for VP candidates.

Experience:

  • Associate Level: 2–4 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, consulting, or asset management.
  • VP Level: 5–8+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated leadership and sector expertise.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, accounting, and valuation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry data platforms and tools (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ).
