Quality and Patient Safety Specialist — Oncology

Full Time | Day Shift | Midtown Campus

 

As a QPSS, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, driving performance improvement and quality assurance across Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy services.

 

In this vital role, you’ll:

  • Lead quality and patient safety initiatives by consulting with internal departments and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and enhance programs that uphold enterprise-wide standards for patient care and safety.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, service lines, and leadership—including VPs, SVPs, and Department Chairs—to guide performance improvement and ensure alignment with QAPI standards.
  • Manage relevant information from databases, reports and documents by evaluating and integrating evidenced based practice.
  • Research, collect, and analyze internal and external data and provide graphical displays to inform strategic decisions and elevate care delivery.
  • Identify sentinel events and serious adverse outcomes and assure root cause analysis of unanticipated negative outcomes. 
  • Facilitate quality and performance improvement meetings, quality committee meetings, and Risk Management meetings.

 

Your clinical expertise will be key in:

  • Abstracting and analyzing complex medical data related to stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely data entry in compliance with Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) standards.
  • Organizing data for external submission and internal use, supporting quantitative and statistical analysis.
  • Creating clear, impactful visualizations—charts, graphs, dashboards—that communicate insights and drive action.

This position is based out of our corporate office in Midtown Manhattan with possible travel to any of our NYP sites and will be full-time Monday to Friday. Hybrid Schedule includes 4 days in office and 1 day remote. 

 

Preferred Criteria 

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as Public Health  
  • Clinical Licensure (RN, PA, NP, MD, or PharmD) 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in transplantation 
  • Experience in Hematology / Oncology
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)  
  • Strong data analytics skills 

 

Required Criteria  

  • Bachelor's degree  
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare, preferably in Quality and Performance Improvement
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications 
  • Familiarity with quality and performance improvement methods
