What we do at Weir
We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact
This role supports our Business Units by delivering high‑quality mechanical engineering solutions across product orders, integrated systems, and manufacturing support, all within a new, state‑of‑the‑art facility designed to enable collaboration and innovation.

From concept development through to validation, analysis, CAD and detailed reporting, you’ll play a hands‑on role in bringing designs to life while ensuring they meet engineering standards and quality requirements. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, you’ll contribute to practical, well‑engineered outcomes in a supportive environment that values teamwork, learning, and professional development.

What you’ll do

  • Design Engineering: Develop 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and engineering reports to support Weir product and system design.

  • Engineering Validation: Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure designs meet specifications, standards, and best practices.

  • System Integration: Integrate pumps, valves, vibrating equipment, motors, and mechanical drives; independently select components such as gearboxes, couplings, belts, and sheaves.

  • Quality & Manufacturing Support: Review peer drawings for quality and compliance, applying strong knowledge of manufacturing processes to ensure design feasibility.

  • Project Delivery & Communication: Manage projects independently, delivering on time and communicating technical information effectively with teams and customers, with occasional travel as required.

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2–3 years’ experience in mechanical engineering and system design.

  • Strong mechanical design capability, with proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD/solid modelling tools.

  • Ability to perform and interpret engineering calculations and simulations for design validation.

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical drives, bearings, and system integration.

  • Working knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and basic materials/metals applications.

  • Exposure to PLM systems (e.g. Teamcenter or Windchill), SAP, and mechanical machines or tooling.

Why join Weir?
