Key responsibilities
- Receive deliveries from suppliers and other sources, verifying goods against accompanying documentation and accurately booking them into the system.
- Determine and carry out any required inspection processes.
- Decant goods where necessary and ensure appropriate handling.
- Generate and apply labels for each package, progressing items to the next stage of the process.
- Scan and upload documentation to maintain accurate digital records.
- Store received goods in the correct locations and update system records accordingly.
- Pick and issue materials for shop orders, sales orders, customer orders, shortages, and material requisitions in line with the production schedule, ensuring all system transactions are completed accurately.
- Conduct daily cycle counts and submit any required stock adjustments for finance approval.
- Liaise with the Stores Lead and Supervisor to request or transfer stock to and from offsite storage.
- Where qualified, safely load and unload vehicles to support efficient inbound and outbound logistics.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with health and safety standards.
- Pick, collate, and pack items for dispatch, ensuring all procedures, contract requirements, and quality standards are met.
- Respond to queries from various departments relating to stores and wider operational activities.
- Operate across Goods In, Dispatch, and Stores functions, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
- Support cross-site operations and provide cover at other locations when required.
- Adhere to and actively support the Tideturn transformation programme.
- Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times.
Skills, Qualification and Experience as a Stores Operative
- Experience working within a warehouse or stores environment
- Proven experience in stock counting and inventory control
- Strong numerical skills with the ability to interpret and work with data
- Physically fit, with the ability to handle manual tasks such as lifting, carrying, and working at height (e.g. steps/ladders)
- Forklift licence (desirable)
- Experience using ERP/MRP/PMRP stock control systems, along with associated reporting tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset

Security Requirements
This role requires you to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard Check (BPSS) as a minimum and some roles will require further national security vetting checks.
In line with Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided. For further details of the evidence required to apply for Baseline and Security Clearance please refer to the United Kingdom Vetting Service (UKSV).
