The Role:

  • Lead technical accounting for complex transactions and public-company reporting, ensuring U.S. GAAP/SEC compliance across Cat Financial. Partner with Risk Management and stakeholders to improve processes, drive automation, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Partners with the business to provide technical accounting support and counsel for complex business transactions, projects and initiatives ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Partners with the Cat Financial Risk Management team ensuring processes and reporting related to allowance, past dues, nonaccruals, and modifications are in compliance with U.S. GAAP.

What You Will Do:

  • Leads technical accounting research for complex transactions and new products/programs across the global Cat Financial organization. Recommends accounting treatment, including the preparation and review of position memos and ensures concurrence, where applicable, from our external auditors.

  • ·Partner with Cat Financial’s Risk Management team ensuring processes and reporting is in compliance with U.S. GAAP.  

  • ·Prepares and/or reviews disclosures included in Form 10-Q/10-K, ensuring U.S. GAAP and SEC compliance.

  • ·Communicate effectively within the team and with internal and external customers and data providers, including presentations to all levels of management.

  • ·Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, automation, and data quality.

  • Monitors new accounting guidance, evaluates the impact, and assists with implementation working with the applicable Cat Financial teams, Cat Inc corporate accounting and our external auditors.

  • Makes recommendations for changes in Cat Financial operational policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance with US GAAP.

  • Provides training on technical accounting topics and accounting policies.

  • ·Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of accounting and reporting professionals.

What You Have:

  • Finance and Accounting: Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

  • Business Partnering: Operates as a true business partner. Ability to build strong relationships and partner across functions to help drive the business.

  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes; ability to apply this knowledge for making sound decisions in the context of one’s functional specialty.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

  • Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's and/or master’s degree in accounting or the equivalent

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting roles with increasing levels of responsibility

  • Experience with public company financial reporting and technical accounting research/documentation

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Professional Certification (Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA))

  • Strong technical writing skills with proven ability to clearly articulate and document complex technical accounting matters.

Compensation & Benefits:

Summary Pay Range:

$151,440.00 - $242,304.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
