The Senior Regional Safety Manager serves as the primary safety advisor to site leadership and has authority to escalate, challenge, and influence operational decisions that create unacceptable risk exposure. This role drives enterprise-wide risk reduction strategies through cross-functional leadership, ensuring safety considerations are embedded into facility design, automation deployments, operational processes, onboarding programs, and new business initiatives. The Senior Regional Safety Manager serves as the designated safety authority for their assigned region. This role is empowered to identify, escalate, and drive resolution of safety risks, require corrective actions, recommend operational controls, and exercise stop-work authority when conditions present unacceptable risk to employees, contractors, visitors, inventory, equipment, or business operations. This role reports to the Senior Director, Global Safety & Compliance.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee safety strategy and risk governance across multiple fulfillment centers with varying operational profiles, including automated facilities, robotics-enabled operations, regulated inventory environments, and emerging business models.
  • Develop and execute regional safety strategies utilizing leading and lagging indicators, risk assessments, behavioral observations, near-miss trends, automation performance data, and operational metrics to proactively prevent incidents.
  • Evaluate safety impacts of new technologies, automation systems, robotics deployments, facility expansions, and operational process changes before implementation.
  • Own regional risk assessments and ensure site-specific controls are established for diverse merchant profiles, including dangerous goods, batteries, food and beverage, cosmetics, print-on-demand operations, and other regulated inventory categories.
  • Run serious incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs while driving accountability across operational leadership teams
  • Develop and assist in rollout strategies for adequate, appropriate, and effective safety, health, and environmental, and regulatory training for associates.
  • Provide strategic guidance to Operations leadership on staffing models, workflow design, equipment utilization, and process modifications to ensure safe scaling of business operations.
  • Establish and maintain regional safety governance processes, serve as the designated regional safety authority, and drive accountability for corrective actions, risk mitigation, escalation management, and executive reporting.
  • Serve as the regional subject matter expert for robotics safety, machine guarding, automation risk assessments, lockout/tagout, and human-machine interaction controls.
  • Monitor and evaluate network safety trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments, recommending strategic investments and risk reduction initiatives to executive leadership.
  • Partner with Partner Operations and third-party fulfillment partners to ensure consistent safety standards, risk controls, and regulatory compliance across the broader fulfillment network.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Requires 50% travel.
  • 10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience, including multi-site distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, automation, or logistics environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required in Safety Science, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Risk Management or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, ARM, HACCP, PCQI, or equivalent safety and risk management credentials strongly preferred.
