About the Team

Store Optimization team helps optimize Lowes stores to unlock the full potential of every square foot—driving sales, improving efficiency, and creating an intuitive, customer‑focused shopping experience. Team focuses on optimizing layouts and in‑store programs to maximize sales productivity.

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the Analyst - Merchandising Reporting role is to support data-driven analytical solutions that improve store space productivity, store layouts and adjacencies, and strategic merchandising initiatives across Lowe's stores.

This role is responsible for gathering and preparing data, performing structured analyses, building reports and dashboards, and translating findings into clear insights for business partners. The Analyst works with cross-functional teams across Store Planning, Visual Merchandising, Assortment Planning, Project Management, and business stakeholders to evaluate opportunities and support execution-ready recommendations.

This position requires analytical thinking, attention to detail, business curiosity, and the ability to work with guidance in a matrixed organization. The individual should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, following defined methodologies, and escalating risks or dependencies in a timely manner.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support analytical workstreams for store optimization, space productivity, new store planning, and strategic merchandising initiatives
  • Translate business questions into structured analyses with guidance from managers or senior team members
  • Build and validate analyses related to store performance, space allocation, adjacency opportunities, category flow, capacity, and productivity impacts
  • Develop data-driven insights and recommendations that support store layout effectiveness, customer flow, operational efficiency, and business performance
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather inputs, validate assumptions, document risks, and track dependencies
  • Prepare business cases, impact assessments, and leadership-ready summaries to support prioritization and decision-making
  • Support pre/post analysis for strategic initiatives and identify learnings that can inform future optimization efforts
  • Leverage multiple data sources to understand performance drivers, store traits, and opportunity areas
  • Maintain and improve repeatable templates, reporting approaches, and standard analysis methodologies
  • Contribute to capability building in areas such as space analytics, productivity reporting, capacity tracking, and decision support tools
  • Present findings and recommendations to managers and cross-functional business partners with clarity
  • Execute assigned projects and build reports/dashboards from scratch under guidance

Years of Experience:

2 to 4 years of experience

1+ years of experience in reporting, data visualization, analytics, or RPA

Retail, merchandising, or store operations analytics experience preferred

Education Qualification & Certifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Computer Science, or any other quantitative discipline

Skill Set Required

Primary Skills (must have)

  • Ability to wrangle data using SQL and data extraction tools such as SQL Assistant, DBeaver, or similar tools across databases such as GCP or Hadoop
  • Proficiency in data transformations and report creation using MS Excel
  • Experience working with large data sets and generating actionable insights with guidance
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work with global partners
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Word and PowerPoint

Secondary Skills (desired)

  • 0-1 year of experience in retail category analytics or merchandising analytics
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI, MicroStrategy, Tableau, or similar tools
  • Exposure to big data or data transformation tools such as Python, SAS, or R
